Such a talented dude . Love all his instrumentals.
Alexis kept his door open to anyone who was interested in the blues. He was the godfather of British music.
Great drummer of the moment. Horrible human being.
Love Judy. Love Fairport. 🧡

This guy was a totally whacked out mental case and I wouldn't have dealt with any of his shit for one second and apparently not many other people wanted too either, talk about someone being their own worst enemy and this guy takes the cake😮

Parents got him to leave because they wanted him to continue his education. So Eric Clapton came in.
Man behind Honeybus, Lace, Magic Valley, Red Herring and Grant Tracy and The Sunsets.
Chris Spedding?!! Nah! It's some stuck up MP from the 1950's...right?
Aging has a way of tempering arrogance & brings on humility. Maybe I'm not the big bad ass I thought I was. It applies to all of us.
Loved the band Rumplestiltskin he was in !
Legend
Jack Bruce and John Entwistle were 2 amazing bass players, imagine what the 2 of them got together, both so so talented. RIP John and Jack
Interesting that he says Michael was left-handed. As far as I recall, he was right-handed (check out any videos of him signing autographs, for example). Perhaps he was ambidextrous, or Mr Russell just remembers it wrong? It's a great anecdote, regardless. I won't be able to think about Chinese takeaway ever again without thinking of this hilarious story.
Mike was a beautiful soul
great book.
I'm actually a friend of his daughter who happens to be my tutor in English. Daniella cattini 👍
Thanks for posting! She's new to be by way of John Martyn. Always more good music to discover both past and present! ❤☮🌎
That’s my granddad❤
I loooooooooove this guys voice. It's criminal he's not some kind of major star. Thank god Simmonds saw it.
Good to hear some background on how Cousins sprang into life. I used to go whenever Stefan Grossman was booked, arriving early to bag a ringside seat where I could watch, at close quarters, how he played some of the rags and folk-blues he excelled at.

Was Ginger Baker referring to Brian as one of the musicians between jazz and blues like saying Eric Clapton was a great jazz player?

La chance 🤞🍀🍀🍀 Ils ne passent pas en France et très peu, trop peu en Belgique 😢😢😢
Hey Rob, fantastic recordings that will live forever. Dynamite, Cat, Rocket and the mighty 'Tiger' are some of the most perfect pop, ever laid down in a studio. Strange how when I'm on the sauce, that Mud always end up on youtube full blast. The perfect accompaniment to a case of 'Neck Oil'! Thanks for the riffs and the joy you've all bought to peoples lives. It really is rather special.
Boy can I relate to that! Edited 2" tape for several years in the 80s. You learn how to cover your ass big time when needed. Phil, I met your brother Terry through a friend, Terry O'Bright. Charming fella, your brother is.
That track she mentions, 'Ask Me No Questions', with the church bells and cuckoo is a most beautiful example of English pastoral. Peel fully realised that song, he puts you right in the middle of the country in the summer. Am trying to place Bridget's accent; anyone know where she's from?
I would guess Surrey, listening to her stuff from around 1970. I saw her do an entire gig at the Three Tuns, Beckenham in 1969. She spent some time in USA and that seemed to affect her accent.
@@operafan98 Thanks very much. I'm almost sure that The Three Tuns is the pub where Bowie had his arts lab around the same time. Maybe he introduced her!
@@robertriordan1823For sure Bowie performed at the folk club in the Three Tuns, though I never saw him. Pretty sure he grew up just around the corner from there off Beckenham High Street. There's probably a commemorative plaque on the house.
Happy Birthday Mel 🌬🌫🌌🌠
A legend Oldham can never replace That song Games people play i showed my mom the video i think Victor and his daughter were nr Heats head pike singing with friends it was the last song i played to my mam as i would put youtube on when she called a few days later she died suddenly Thank you victor and family for leaving me a beautiful memory RIP big guy
The Kevin Ayers catalog was a big part of my musical upbringing from Joy of the Toy onward. An eclectic mix of eccentric English songs almost like a musical trip through alice in wonderland with a ever so strange banana obsession!!!! I got to see him live in 1975 at the Astoria in London with Andy Summers & Zoot Money just before the punk thing kicked off & just about when Summers met Stingo & Copeland to do their pretend punk band. As a musician myself I recorded a cover version of May I for my brothers funeral as he was a big fan. Ayers songwriting was always very amusing and he even got quite poppy in his later material. He never quite broke out commercially partly, I think because he was so laid back himself. He was always surrounded by a group of very talented musicians from Oldfield, Summers, Coxhill, Bedford, Wyatt etc. Whatevershebringswesing and Confessions of Dr Dream albums are stamped in my head from a young age. He was a one off with music full of vision and humour but possibly fuelled by the occasional substance, mainly red wine. A bit mad but a memorable talent. Too old to die young!

Hi. I was a friend of Arthur’s back in the 1970s at Jet Records. We lost touch in the last few years. Can you tell me when he died. I loved Arthur. He helped me and my band a huge amount back then 😄❤️☯️🙏
